Finally, Summer holiday is here! Spread and do enter my candy peeps, it's really worth while!

Hi ladies, it's finally here, the summer holiday! These last two weeks have been murder and I am dead beat right now. But I do have 6 weeks of holiday waiting for me, so I'm not complaining. You will be seeing lots of work appearing on my blog again, ánd I will have time for visiting your blogs, so you will be seeing me pop by. I do have something to show you; a spread from my Donna Downey album (which is exactly like the album that is in my candy, just a different fabric cover, so do enter ladies, it's really worth while!).
Now for this one I started out wich a large stencil with butterflies from TCW and H2O paints, dabbing with a sponge over the stencil. I used blue and aqua colours en they blended beautifully and gave such a lovely shimmer on my pages.

I then used a script stencil and texture paste to make this gorgeous sript in 3D, it gives lots of texture to the spread. Then I added cream lace rubons here and these. I diecut large Cheery Lynn butterflies and gave them some Stickles. I tehn glued them down on the butterflies of the stencil I used.

Now the stencil had these swirl like things that suggest movement and also bind the butterflies together. I used loads of old shirt buttons and a hot glue gun to glue them on these swirls.

I didn't add a quote or any words to this page, I felt it didn't need any and liked it just the way it came out. The little inclusion between the pages it typical for the Donna Downy albums, and I always try to let the motiv continue over it. I also sometimes use it to add wording or a quote.

Deze spread in mijn Donna Downey album startte met een achtergrond van blauwe en turqoise H2O verfjes die prachtig in elkaar overvloeien en een mooie glimmer aan de pagina's geven. (Dat Donna Downey album is trouwens hetzelfde dat in mijn candy zit, alleen met een ander stofje als omslag, dus doe vooral mee met de candy, hij is echt de moeite waard!). Ik heb daarbij een TCW stencil gebruikt met vlinders verbonden door een soort lussen die beweging suggereren. Daarna heb ik met een ander stencil en 3D pasta het handschrift erop gemaakt. De vlinders zijn grote Cheery Lynn vlinders die ik met Stickles wat glitter heb gegeven en op de plaats van de vlinders in de achtergrond heb geplakt. Tenslotte heb ik hier en daar nog wat kanten rubons aangebracht en met een lijmpistool héél veel oude overhemdknoopjes op de lussen geplakt. Ik heb deze keer geen citaat of woorden aangebracht, ik vond dat deze het niet nodig heeft, vandaar! Voor iedereen die op vakantie gaat, een super fijne vakantie gewenst, geniet ervan, en voor alle anderen, ik zie jullie in blogland.

Sorry about the lack of posts, end of schoolyear, crazy busy!

Made this set of canvases a while ago. I started out with two 12x12" scrapbook papers which I glued down with mat gel medium. I applied some gesso in turqoise acrylic paint and used a stencil and a brown archival ink and sponged through the stencil.

Then I took a circle stencil and some texture paste and added some circles here and there. I made sure that one circle overlapped both canvases in order to make the coherent. After drying I added a pearl acrylic medium to them. I used Distress ink to distress the edges of the canvases.

In order to add texture I added a flower arrangement to both canvasses. I used some Prima flowers and a Prima flower spray, The bird and birdcage were painted with a darkbrown acrylic paint and then covered with Distress Crackle paint.

On the right canvas I added a lovely butterfly I had once bought in a garden center. It matched the colours perfectly.

The crackle structure you see in the background was already in the print of the papers and that brown baroque like pattern you see is the one I stencilled on with Archival ink and a stencil (so it is not a stamp as you may think). Zo dames, ook op dit blog weinig activiteit vanwege de einde schooljaar drukte, maar deze canvassen had ik een tijdje geleden al gemaakt. Een mooi moment dus om ze op mijn blog te zetten. De achtergrond bestaat uit twee vellen scrapbookpapier dat ik erop heb gelijmd met matte gel medium. Daarna heb ik hier en daar wat turqoise en taupekleurige verf aangebracht. Vervolgens heb ik met een stencil en bruine Stazon ook hier en daar een motiefje erop gesponsd. De ronde cirkels zijn gemaakt met een ander stencil en een reliefpasta en om de twee doeken op elkaar aan te laten sluiten heb ik één cirkel laten overlappen. Na droging heb ik daar wat parelmoer acrylmedium p[ aangebracht. De randen van de canvassen heb ik met Distress inkt bewerkt. Vervolgens heb ik wat bloemen van Prima flowers op beide canvassen aangebracht. Het vogeltje en vogelkooitje zijn van chipboard en heb ik eerst donkerbruin geverfd en vervolgens met Distress Crackle Paint bewerkt. De vlinder op het rechtse doek had ik eeuwen geleden eens bij Intratuin gekocht en past er precies bij qua kleur, dus die kwam nu goed van pas. Ik vind ze wel romantisch geworden, ben wel benieuwd wat jullie ervan vinden. Nog 2,5 week en dan begint de zomervakantie. Kan niet wachten!! Groetjes Frea

A couple of days off and June!

Hi all you lovely ladies out there, I feel so lucky; had some off time coming due to filling in for a collegue teacher this year, so I have 5 days off, woop woop! Not all will be filled blogging and crafting because there is a bag full of schoolwork waiting for me (I've hid it in the hall behind the coats so I don't see LOL). But the sun is shining so after this post I will be a good girl, get some work out and sit outside in the sun and do my duty!
Anyhow, here's my new calendar for June. I did some collaging, which is a first for me, but I love the way that turned out. The background was made with diluted Dylusions (that sounds funny when you say it out loud), Bubblegum Pink and Glimmer Mist Cherry Pie. Love that colour combination. I left it quite untouched after drying, just sprinkled some water over it, but no stencils or anything.

I did stamp some swirls in the corners in grey and some Tim Holtz butterflies  which I stamped using a dark pink Faber Castel Big Brush Pitt pen. I collected some flowers from several magazines, fussy cut the out and coloured the leaves with a bright green Copic maker, because they were a dull greygreen which I didn't like. I glued them down with matte gel medium.

And then I thought of that clipping I had lying about of this cute little girl, don't you think she's just adorable. She needed to come out of that flower, like a little flower girl. To make her stand out more, I outlined her with a black permanent fineliner.

And this last picture hopefully will give you an idea of that gorgoeus purple shimmer the glimmer mist gives to the darker spots on this page where I sprayed G.M. Cherry Pie. I've already written down some appointments I have for this month.

And last but not least, the picture of the passed month of May. We had a weird month, with a short holiday in Tsjech and a lot of visits to the hospital because my husband turned very ill after returning from holiday. He's lost 12,5 kg. (which wasn't so bad LOL), but is still recovering from a very bad (unidentified) virus.

Nederlands nu; dit is kalender pagina voor de maand juni. Erg leuk om te doen hoor, die kalenders. Kate Crane heeft een challenge op haar blog, gewoon voor de lol hoor! Ik heb de achtergrond gemaakt met verdunde Dylusions Bubblegum Pink. De Dylusions zijn héél erg fel van kleur, en dat wilde ik niet. Echt een paar druppels in een flesje aangevuld met water is al behoorlijk fel. Verder heb ik de donkere kleur gemaakt met Glimmer Mist Cherry Pie. Prachtige kleur, en hij heeft een paarsige glimmer erin, ik hoop dat de laatste foto met die rondjes dat een beetje laat zien. Ik heb voor het eerst collage gebruikt op deze pagina en ik vind het zooo leuk geworden. Dat ga ik echt meer doen. Dat kleutertje op die bloem vind ik helemaal schattig, zij is niet achter de kool gevonden haha! De vlekken hier en daar op de achtergrond heb ik gemaakt door er wat water op te sprenkelen, de inkt reageert daarmee en als je het dan met keukenrol opneemt krijg je die vlekken. Hier en daar wat gestempeld en dat is het wel zo'n beetje.
Ik heb lekker 5 dagen vrij nu, had nog wat Bapo tegoed omdat ik een paar keer ben ingevallen voor een collega op school, en vrijdag hebben we een collectieve ADV dag dus dat sloot er mooi op aan. Wel een tas vol met werk bij me hoor van school, maar die ga ik proberen zoveel mogelijk in het zonnetje in de tuin te doen. Geniet van het lekkere weer dames, lieve groetjes, Frea

A short post, a cat, and very little time ....

Hi ladies, a short post this time, my newest page for the Craft Barn Challenge. I picked the word Feline, and that was an easy choice. Been wanting to do a Zentangle for a while now and it just wouldn't happen, so a zentangle cat was the answer. I found a cat image on the Internet and drew the outlines on a piece of paper. I then devided the cat into parts and here the work started. It does take some time, but I love the result.
