Hi everyone, it's weekend and I'm home alone; hubby's gone on a motorcycle trip and will be back on Sunday evening. I just hears about this new Throwback Thursday challenge by Bibiana, and this time you're supposed to revive an old project, prefereably Halloween. Now this project isn't necessarily Halloween, but autumn, however, the Stampotique stamps do give it a Halloween feel. These stamps have this creepy appearance which I really like. I made this spread in my selfmade Donna Downey inspired journal. It has the characteristic inclusion which at first was very hard for me to incorporate in my spreads, but after a while I grew accustomed to them and now I think the're wonderfull, because they provide extra room for all sorts of stuff. So here's my spread.
With the inclusion to the right,
and with the inclusion to the left.
I started my background with distress paints in Autumn colours. Let them run and love the blending effect. The cobwebbs at the top I drew with a permanent marker. All the stamps are Stampotique stamps. The spider was stamped straight on to the background and coloured in with a Copic marker.
The other stamps were stamped on Copic paper and coloured in. I wanted those colours to stand out more. The kittycat....
The little fellow (one of my favorite Stampotique stamps) because he's both creepy and cute....
and finally Edward who reminds me (and was probably based on) Edward Scissorhands, and I', such a Johnny Depp fan, you can see him on the first spread picture.
I made this one in October 2013, so about a year ago. Still like how it turned out. The little leaves I bought in a cheap store for next to nothing.
Hope you all have a great weekend!! Hugs Frea
I will enter my spread in this challenge:

Autumn in my home made Donna Downey album.
Hi everyone, this spread I made in my self made Donna Downey album. It's got this lovely autumn like feel to it, even though the items used are not reminiscent of autumn. Maybe is the colours, must be that!
Some close ups of details. The flowers made with a stencil and modeling paste and applying Inca Gold after drying.
The little dots by applying gesso through a stencil before applying the spray inks by LSG. The stamps are by Tim Holtz again, like my last spread.
Have a great weekend everyone! Hugs Frea

You make my heart sing.
Again I am hiding in my craftroom this weekend from the pollen outside. I'm getting so fed up with this. I was supposed to go to a concert today with hubby and some friends, but no such luck. It's just not doable for me to go outside right now, grrrrr!
So what to do then?? Simple questions have simple answers; crafting!! Here's what I made. I started my spread with applying fiber paste to my pages. Now that takes overnight to dry. Then I coated the entire spread with black gesso.
In order to make the fibers stand out and show, I used my brandnew turqoise Inca Gold which I applied using my fingers. The cheap chipboard letter were of an entirely wrong colour, but I have just bought some sets of embossing powders and one set was exactly right. Now the colour matches perfectly.
Each set has a semi matte and a glitter colour. And here you see the glitter one, used with a heart stamp on turqoise cardstock. After stamping and embossing I cut the heart out and added 3D tape underneath to slightly raise it. I took some baker's twine and glued that down with glossy accents and made an additional bow that I added to the heart with a hot glue gun. The idea was to make it look like a balloon.
Because the background was a little black black (if you know what I mean) I stamped a little background stamp on with white Stazon; it's quite subtly, but I like it. Finished the page off with some doodling around the spread with a white sharpie, and that was it.
Have a great Sunday you all, hugs Frea

Industrial chic/steampunk with lots of Lindy's.
This spread I made in my Donna Downey journal. I made one in a round robin project I entered and liked it so much I wanted it in my own journal as wel. It's not an exact copy, but the appearance and use of materials is similar. I bought this stampset by Stampers Anonymous the other day, and that's the main feature on this spread.
In de the middle in the spine, in order to stop the sprays from bleeding through, I taped 7 Gypsies linnen measure tape. I mixed some black acrylic paint with modeling past and made the diamonds on my page. The larger diamons on the left page and the inclusion are a Tim Holtz Long Sizzlit die which I cut out of black paper. I used some grungy ribbon with butterflies by Kaiserkraft on the large pages.I uses Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in the colours Steel Shimmer, Rusty Lantern Lime and Shabby Turbine Teal. Don't you just love the colours??
In the background I stamped with a stamp from the Tim Holtz industrial blueprint set, the one with the cogs.
On the right side I stamped and embossend this quote, which I really love. I also love the font they used for this quote.
So I hope you like this very grungy page, I sure loved creating it. Hugs Frea

When you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there.
I am such an Alice fan, and this quote is from Alice in Wonderland, love it! I am also a huge France Papillon fan, and watch all her video's which gives me loads of inspiration, and thats how this page got started. I began this page with a coat of gesso after which I painted the entire page from lightpink at the top to darker and bruight pink on the bottom. I then 'stamped' with embossing ink and several lids of spraycans and other containers. I overlapped them and went for an imperfect look, and embossed with Ultra thick clear embossing powder.
Then I coated the entire page with a coat of transparant gesso. That has a slightly absorbant quality which I wanted for the sprays I was going to use. I then sprayed the entire page with Lindy's Stamp Gang Fuzzy Navel Peach and a little bit of Dylusions Squuzes Orange here and there. I tried to take a picture to show of the lovely shimmer on the page, I hope you can see it.
I stamped this cute Stampotique fellow because of his sign, which I thought would be perfect for stmaping some questionmarks on. I coloured him with my trusted Copics.
On the right side of the page I added a large questionmark brad and on the inclusion I added a gorgeous butterflu with some bling. I used a grey Pitt Pen to make a slight shadow around the circles and the stamped image. On the edges of my spread I distressed with some Distress Ink Black Soot.
I added some paintsplatters with diluted black acrylic paint and used an old giftcard to make some lines here and there. I printed the quote on craft cardstock, but regretted that later on. It was very hard to glue down. My journal is quite warped, I have only 5 spreads left and it's pretty thick, so it was hard to glue down.
So that was it for today, hope you enjoyed my page, and thank you France for your inspiration.

Hearts in my journal!!
In my Donna Downey journal I made this spread.
I started out with a coat of creamcoloured acrylic paint and then glued some Tim Holtz tissue wrap melange here and there. Then I added some crackle medium here and there and after drying coated with a layer of taupe coloured acrylic paint.
Then I did some vintage stamping, and added the turqoise grunge hearts with a stencil and acrylic paint. I used masks from Tattered Angels and texture paste to make the large and small heart. After drying I started spraying with Lindsy Stamp gang sprays, Buccaneer Bay blue and Bachelor Button Blue, which not only gives a lovely colour but also a gorgeous shimmer.
I found this great quote on the Internet, don't you just love Internet?! You really can find just about anything there.
I used the inclusion in the middel in a way to bind the two pages, so I made sure the hearts continued onto the page itself.
I really enjoyed making this spread, I hope you all enjoy viewing it. Hugs Frea

Sometimes I wish I could see beyond the horizon.....
The other day I went to this craft shop I had never been before and found this lovely stencil with faces on it by Andy Skinner. And as it happens, tomorrow I will be attending a workshop by Mr Skinner himself, how cool is that?!
Anyhow, I made this spread in my Donna Downey journal with the stencils and my brandnew Pan Pastels and Distress Paints. Love how it turned out. It has an autumn feel to it, I think due to the colours I used.
Now this page started out as a 'junk' page, in that I had made some acrylic wash by mixing acrylic paint with gel medium for another page, but of course I made way too much, and so I used the left over wash with a stencil on this empty page. That is what you see at the bottom, and after painting over it with Distress Paints I was sorry to see it covered up, and so I decided to take some sanding paper to it and I sanded the paints off again. Love it!
I painted the faces with black acrylic paint, and used the stencil on the inclusions too, so they would show also when the flap of the inclusion is lying on top of them.
Now when I finished my page it looked to me as if the face on the right page was looking down from the sky, and so these words popped into my mind. I don't think it's somebody's quote, I just made it up, so now it is my quote LOL!
Hope you like my spread, I sure enjoyed making it! Have a great day, hugs Frea

I love vintage!!
Went to the demo days of Doe@Ding yesterday, and of course bought loads of good stuff, which just hád to be used. To I made this vintage layout in my Donna Downey journal. I started out with to shades of Blueish green acrylic paint. Then I glued down dome pieces of design papers with mat gel medium. I then took my brandnew Lindy's stamp gang Starburst sprays and sprayed some yummy colour and glimmer on the spread.
Lots to see on this spread, so here are some detail pictures.

Here you see the left and right page enlarged.
Now my sister Annika found some of that corny plastic lace used to decorate shelves in your kitchen. I took some texture past and added acrylic paints in order to make it off white and smeared that through the 'lace'. After that I sprayed some Glimmer Mist Suede on to make it look even more vintage.
Also brandnew is this lovely stuff I used for the heart. I stamped with Perfect Medium a heart on my spread, and then added embossing tinsel, bronze glass glitter and tea stained mica flakes from a set by Stampendous called Frantage Encrusted. Love the result. You'll see all sorts of new stuff on this layout which I bought yesterday on the Doe@Ding demoday. I added some shading around the heart with a black Faber Castell Pitt Pen.
Then I printed out a digi I won once on a challenge blog. Can't for the life of me remember which one (blush). I coloured her up with my copics and paper pieces the dress and parasol with papers from K & Company called Ancestry. I added some shadow in the pleats of the dress and underneath the parasol as well. Around the image I added shadow with a black Faber Castell Pitt pen.
I hope you like this one, I sure enjoyed making it! Hugs Frea

Pink birds make me happy!!
They do, especially the ones I added to this layout. Now it started by watching a video on the Paper Artsy blog. Should you want to see, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sgBOi_DBkM&feature=c4-overview&list=UUs9MVeZCc8hFqi2_T7ygsfA
This was made by using a stone background stencil and plastering paste (they use grunge paste in the video which I didn't have and I found that normal texture paste doesn't work, you need something firmer than that. So I bought a cheap tube of plastering paste and that worked wonderfully. After pasting it through the stencil you have to leave the stencil on, and then take a stamp (I used a script stamp) which you have to wet slightly (not too much), and then stamp in the wet paste. After you stamped to your liking you remove the stencil.
After drying I painted with a combination of acrylic paints I liked. Then I diluted a dark purple paint with some water, thus creating a wash which collects in the deeper parts. And then as a final step, after that has dried thouroughly, you sand the stencilled parts which brings out some white here and there. Don't you just love the effect of this technique??
Now for the birds I mixed a bright pink embossingpower with a glittery embossingpower. The pink was too bright for my liking, and the glitterpower too pale and translucent. Love this combination though. So here's a picture of the other side of the inclusion showing the text on the other side:
Around the edges of the birds I used a grey Faber Castel Pitt pen to make some shadow and round the edges of the pages I used a brown Pitt pen in order to 'frame' the pages. The Pink birds words were made with pink chipboard letters, and the words on this picture were stamped on. I added a background stamp here and there on the page in purple Stazon. And on the left page you see a pink feather, and yes, it's a real one.
I hope you like my spread, I was very happy with this one, it just came together so easily! Have a great Wednesday, hugs Frea

A new page in my Donna Downey journal.
The other day I bought this magazine called The Flow, and it had the picture of Helen Keller, who was both deaf and blind, a publised author, political activiste and teacher. She lived from 1880-1968. It also had her quote saying: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." I just loved that quote.
Now it so happened that a while back France Papillon, who makes the most wonderful video's on You Tube, (you should check her out: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3lkm39DsSZUqRGJg5REtFg) had bought this old French journal from 1898, and offered some pages from the journal as a candy for her followers. I was the lucky girl who won some, and of course this was the perfect opportunity to use a page.
I started by mixing a turqoise and teal coloured acrylic paint with some gel medium. I made sure the coloures were not mixed in completely so there was a marble like effect. I then put it on the page with a spatula. After drying I took a piece of quilting cotton that had a really antique look. I frayed the edges a little and stuck it to the page with doublesided sticky paper.
The journal page was torn and then glued down with mat gel medium, and so were the picture of Hellen Keller and the quote which I cut into strips. I distressed everything before gluing it down with Walnut Stain Distress ink.
As a last touch a went around the page with a blck Pitt pen which I smeared with my finger. That 'frames' the page nicely. I so hope you like my page. Hugs Frea
Groetjes Frea

Finally, Summer holiday is here! Spread and do enter my candy peeps, it's really worth while!
Hi ladies, it's finally here, the summer holiday! These last two weeks have been murder and I am dead beat right now. But I do have 6 weeks of holiday waiting for me, so I'm not complaining. You will be seeing lots of work appearing on my blog again, ánd I will have time for visiting your blogs, so you will be seeing me pop by. I do have something to show you; a spread from my Donna Downey album (which is exactly like the album that is in my candy, just a different fabric cover, so do enter ladies, it's really worth while!).
Now for this one I started out wich a large stencil with butterflies from TCW and H2O paints, dabbing with a sponge over the stencil. I used blue and aqua colours en they blended beautifully and gave such a lovely shimmer on my pages.
I then used a script stencil and texture paste to make this gorgeous sript in 3D, it gives lots of texture to the spread. Then I added cream lace rubons here and these. I diecut large Cheery Lynn butterflies and gave them some Stickles. I tehn glued them down on the butterflies of the stencil I used.
Now the stencil had these swirl like things that suggest movement and also bind the butterflies together. I used loads of old shirt buttons and a hot glue gun to glue them on these swirls.
I didn't add a quote or any words to this page, I felt it didn't need any and liked it just the way it came out. The little inclusion between the pages it typical for the Donna Downy albums, and I always try to let the motiv continue over it. I also sometimes use it to add wording or a quote.
Hope you like my today's spread. Wishing everyone who is going away for the holiday a great time and will be seeing all others in blogland. Hugs Frea
