A face, working on my drawing skills.

Something a little different. Last year I did this online class with Andrea Gomoll to learn how to draw faces. I actually did only three (LOL). I loved doing it, but somehow things got in the way, and I never made any more. Now this face was finished, it just didn't have a background yet, so I finished it today. The background was done with Distress Stains. Then I did some stamping, but I found it all a little too harsh, so I covered it with some diluted gesso.

Even iets heel anders; heb een tijdje terug een online cursus bij Andrea Gomoll gevolgd om te leren gezichten te tekenen. Eerlijk gezegd heb ik er maar drie getekend hihi. Ik vind het wel leuk, maar op één of andere manier komt het er maar niet van er meer te tekenen. Deze had nog steeds geen achtergrond, dus die heb ik nu gemaakt. De achtergrond heb ik gemaakt met Distress Stains waarna ik wat gestempeld heb. Ik vond het allemaal wat hard overkomen, dus ik heb het helemaal overgeschilderd met wat verdunde gesso.

The blue dots were made with glitter gel, the first time I worked with the stuff and I really like the effect.The blue shading around the hair and the washi tape was made with a Faber Castell Pitt pen.

De blauwe stippen heb ik gemaakt met glitter gel, werkt erg leuk dat spul. De blauwe 'schaduwen' rond het haar en washi tape zijn gemaakt met een Pitt pen.

I did the face and hair in acrylic paint.

In the hair I made pearl strings with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. Would love to know what you think.

The last letter in my dictionary had to be the X

And I picked X-mas as a word. The words for X were pretty limited and of course X-mas is an easy one to do. I sprayed the background with shimmery spray inks in red.

The Christmas tree was embossed on green cardstock after which I used some gold Rub'n Buff to highlight the raised areas. I coloured some gauze with distress inks brown, glued it down around the foot of the tree and added some Aleen's True Snow. On the background I stamped some fir branches and a 'word tree' which I embossed with gold embossing powder.

Pretty simple really this page, but I kinda like the effect! Have a great weekend, hugs Frea

An art journal Round Robin

This is a spread made in somebody elses art journal, a little scary, but I think it worked out alright. this is a Round Robin that I entered into. Every 2 weeks I will receive somebody's journal to work in, whilst my own journal is also traveling. If all goes well, I will get my own journal back in September with a load of lovely spreads in made by other people. Love that idea!!
I went for vintage, started out with T.H. tissue paper glued down with mat gel medium. Then I coloured it using D.I. Rusty Hinge, and Vintage Photo around the edges. Then I took some black thread and stitched around the edges twice. With a T.H. mask and Archival ink I added some compasses. Then I took the leftover of a Tim Holtz cut out Typewriter alphabet and used it as a stencil. I coloured some modeling paste with black gesso and added letters here an there.

The suitcases are an image I downloaded form the Internet and they are placed on a (part of) a sticker with the word travel on. I glued it all down with mat gel medium and added shades all around with a brown Faber Castel Pitt pen.

On the other side of my spread I wanted one of those antique photos, so I started browsing the Internet and came up with this one which seemed rather appropriate with the travel theme. Before adding it to the spread I took some gauze and coloured it with a mix of Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress inks. After drying I first glued down the gauze and then stitched the photo on, again with black thread.

Pf cpirse my spread needed a quote, so hurray for the Internet, I found this one. I took a regular kraft lable I bought at a bookshop, (the're so much cheaper then the ones you buy in the craft stores and work fine), crupled it up, had a go at it with my vintage photo ink pad and wet it through and through with a mister. Then flattened it out again and dried it. I distressed the edges with a Heidi Zwapp distress tool and made sure I would tear it here and there. Then used some Walnut Stain around the edges to make it pop against the background, and used some seambinding I coloured with D.I. to give it a bow. Then glued it down with Tacky glue.

Love......

A spread made in my small Dylusions art journal. A journal that I was rather disapointed in because the paper is of an entirely different quality than the large one which I also have and which I really love! I have even contacted Ranger, and they requested I send them some sheets of the journal, which I did, but I received no further response form that company. I wonder if any of you have the same problem.
Anyhow, for this spread I stamped these Dylusions images on the page and painted black all around them. Then I stamped them again, but this time on design paper and paper pieces the images on the spread. In the middel I added some washi tape.
Een spread gemaakt in mijn kleine Dylusions art journal. Ik ben helemaal niet zo tevreden met dit art journal. Ik heb de grote ook, en die vind ik geweldig, maar deze kleine uitvoering heeft een totaal ander papiersoort, echt waardeloos! Inkt slaat er meteen doorheen waardoor de volgende bladzijde eigenlijk niet goed meer bruikbaar is.
Maar goed, voor deze spread heb ik stempels gebruikt van Dylusions. Rondom de stempel heb ik de achtergrond zwart geverfd. Daarna heb ik de stempels op design papier gestempeld, uitgeknipt en opgeplakt.
