Art brings Balance in my life.

This spread I made in my large Dylusions journal and was inspired by Donna Downey. I would have never picked those colours together myself, but seeing one of her works in this colour combination I decided to go for it too, and lo and behold; it works. Well, for me anyhow!
I started the page by gluing down some squres and rectangles of leftover white cardstock, then I gessoed and using a spatula to make some texture with modeling paste. I glued some pieces from an old dictionary to my spread and randomly stuck some old canvas letter stickers on. Then I wrote some words on which came to mind like 'messing about' and clueless, which I was at the start of this spread LOL!

I used denim blue and slate grey with glazing medium to emphasize the texture. Then I used some Quinacridone Azo Gold by golden with a dotted stencil here and there. With my fingers I added some Deco Art transparant Red Iron Oxide, and around the blue circles I drew red circles with Amsterdam Carmine red.
I wrote the words with a black Identipen.

With some diluted black acrylic paint I made splatters and some stripes with an old creditcard. Furthermore I added black distressing around the edges of the spread with a black Gelato.

With the leftover diluted red paint I made some drippage on the top left corner and close to the circles. I didn't want to overdo is because I feel the red really stands out, so I stopped there.
