A new spread in my small Dylusions Art Journal.

Unfortunately this small Dylusions Art Journal doesn't live up to it's expectations. It can simply not be used with Dylusions or any other inky medium. It absorbs like a kitchen roll and has a paper of extreme poor quality. It does however hold acrylics, and since the size is very nice, I use it for that. Ranger does not seem to be willing to accept the numerous complaints, however, it seems they are no longer being produced. I wonder it the'll come up with a better alternative. Anyhow, this spread was made with a background made with my new Fresco paint Mermaid, and the chicken wire was stenciled on with Beach Hut Fresco paint.I tore a piece of copying paper randomly and sprayed Lindy's S.G. mist Sea Mint Green in order to get the grass bit.

With my homemade bead gel and a stencil I made the sunbeams and at the bottom I used the same stencil. I painted the sunbeams with a bright yellow acrylic paint and used glossy accents to make them shine. At the bottom I used Maya Gold Turqoise (except for the green part).

The grassy bit was made with a Stampotique stamp by France Papillon. This stamp can be stamped thus that the grass seems to continue and you don't see where the stamp begins or ends. It just requires some precision stamping.
Now while making this spread there was this commercial on TV that uses the Michael Bublé song, and it dawned on me the spread needed a bird. I stamped this one with a Donna Downey stamp and teal glitter embossing powder. The shadow around the bird was made with a Neocolour II pastel.
And last but not least I typed the songtext on my trusty old typewriter. The shadow around the text was made with a grey Pitt pen bu Faber Castell. Have a Happy Easter everyone!!

You make my heart sing.

Again I am hiding in my craftroom this weekend from the pollen outside. I'm getting so fed up with this. I was supposed to go to a concert today with hubby and some friends, but no such luck. It's just not doable for me to go outside right now, grrrrr!
So what to do then?? Simple questions have simple answers; crafting!! Here's what I made. I started my spread with applying fiber paste to my pages. Now that takes overnight to dry. Then I coated the entire spread with black gesso.
In order to make the fibers stand out and show, I used my brandnew turqoise Inca Gold which I applied using my fingers. The cheap chipboard letter were of an entirely wrong colour, but I have just bought some sets of embossing powders and one set was exactly right. Now the colour matches perfectly.
Each set has a semi matte and a glitter colour. And here you see the glitter one, used with a heart stamp on turqoise cardstock. After stamping and embossing I cut the heart out and added 3D tape underneath to slightly raise it. I took some baker's twine and glued that down with glossy accents and made an additional bow that I added to the heart with a hot glue gun. The idea was to make it look like a balloon.
Because the background was a little black black (if you know what I mean) I stamped a little background stamp on with white Stazon; it's quite subtly, but I like it. Finished the page off with some doodling around the spread with a white sharpie, and that was it.
Have a great Sunday you all, hugs Frea

A new spread in my Donna Downey A.J. using new stuff from the Art Specially Event.

Last Saturday me and two of my friends went to the Art Specially Event in Nijkerk (Netherlands), which is all about stamping and crafting. We had a blast en spent way too much money (don't tell our hubbies).
Anyhow, yesterday I got the chance to get playing and this is the result.
Now the background was made with an accident: I knocked an open bottle of Lindy's Stamp Gang spray over and mopped a lot of it up with my Art Journal. That's the green you're seeing. I added Distress Ink Chipped Saphire all around and found the combination surprisingly beautiful.
The dots are made with my brandnew TCW stencil and gold coloured texture paste by Solo Goya, a German brand which I bought when on holiday in Germany. I haven't seen the band anywhere else thought, but just love the stuff. The text stamp was a gift at the Art Specially Event, and I love it!
This is an Indigo Blue stamp which my friend Annika bought and kindly lent to me. I put Memento blue in the middle en the outside of the stamp was done with Indigo Blue Mega-Flakes in the colour Morris Dance. Love the effect!!
I used a script stamp in the backgroud with green Memento ink and stamped some Tim Holtz butterflies with a darkblue embossing powder. To finish the spread I distressed the edges, again with Chipped Saphire Ditress Ink.
Hope you like the pages, I sure enjoyed playing. Have a great week, hugs Frea

My pimped dictionary.

Hello blogfriends, I wanted to show you my pimped old English dictionary. I joined the Craft Barn challenge last year, where you would be given a letter each two weeks. Then you had to pick a word starting with that particular letter and depict the word any way you would choose on that page, leaving the word open. All that was left to do, was to pimp the outside of my book, and this is the result.
I started by gessoing the book twice. It had a burgundy red linnen cover, and on my first coat of gesso I found it bled colour. Then I started gluing all sort of stuff down. I used Tim Holtz dies, some metal and then gessoed everything again.
This is the back of the book which I kept a little flatter in order for the book to be able to lay flat.
After all these steps I started spraying with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. Then I used some Rub 'n Buff gold, splattered some Indian ink and smudges the edges of the book with Stazon black. A few detail pictures.

I hope you are having a better week then me; all the pollen in the air are making my life miserable. But they say it's going to rain tomorrow! I sure hope so! Hugs Frea
