I want to see the manager!

This spread I made in someone elses art journal for the Round Robin I've joined. It's a reverse paint technique that I saw in a You Tube video by Dana C. Love the depth it creates in a page.
Here's the endresult and then I will explain how to do this.

So this is how you start out; a colourful background made with acrylic paints and  Neocolor crayons, diluted with water. Used lots of objects to make imprints on the background.

Then you draw some random circles with a pencil. You mix some acrylic paint with a glazing medium in order to make it slightly transparant and start painting all around the circles. After drying, you draw some more circles on and then you take a slightly darker colour of acrylic paint and again mix it with an acrylic glaze. Paint the background with this new colour and repeat these steps with the darkest colour. Here I used blue colours because I wanted to give the illusion of planets like Dana did in her video, but I can imagine doing this with butterflies and a green coloured background. The depth is enhanced by adding shading around the circles. After all this I lightly sanded the background, so you see a pop of background color here an there.
I added a Stampotique stamp, and placed the little guy (he must be my favourite Stampotique stamp, I seem to use him a lot LOL), on one of the 'planets', and added this quote I found on the Internet.

Hope you enjoyed this spread and my mini tut on how to do this. Have a great weekend you all!! Hugs Frea
Groetjes Frea

Donna Downey inspired art journal spread.

This spread in my Dylusions Art Journal was inspired by Donna Downey. She worked with a lot of texture too and used that dark area as a backdrop for an image. To me it depicts a doorway. I set out making this page by using a stone stencil and texture paste after which I filled in the remaining area's with an Antique effect texture paste.
The doorway was made with a darkbrown acrylic paint with some black added in orde to make it even darker. I didn't mix in the black all the way, in order to get some variation in colour to add some interest instead of making a dark 'hole' in the wall.
I diluted some of the leftover acrylic paint from the doorway and let it drip from the side of the right page, hoping to create the illusion of branches accross the page. I needed that to 'hang' my birdcage stamp on. To bring back a little of the pink colour of the flowers on that lady I stamped a little heart and coloured that pink with a Copic marker before gluing it down.
In the middle of the spread accross the two pages, I tried to make the illusion of a tree by scraping my palet knife through the texture paste. When spraying the Glimmer mist, the ink gathered in the 'branches' of the tree, thus enhancing the tree.
Apart from various beige and brown sprays, I used two green sprays to give the illusion of the wall being overgrown with moss, but it also gave me the opportunity to let the green from the lady's dress come back on the pages. In orde to make the brick wall look dirty and old, I used some of the brown doorway paint and a nearly dry brush.
This last picture shows off the glimmer very nicely, which is fortunate, because most of the time it is nearly impossible to catch that in a picture.
Now let's see if we can get this puppy joined in some challenges. Have a great weekend everyone, hugs Frea

Industrial chic/steampunk with lots of Lindy's.

This spread I made in my Donna Downey journal. I made one in a round robin project I entered and liked it so much I wanted it in my own journal as wel. It's not an exact copy, but the appearance and use of materials is similar. I bought this stampset by Stampers Anonymous the other day, and that's the main feature on this spread.
In de the middle in the spine, in order to stop the sprays from bleeding through, I taped 7 Gypsies linnen measure tape. I mixed some black acrylic paint with modeling past and made the diamonds on my page. The larger diamons on the left page and the inclusion are a Tim Holtz Long Sizzlit die which I cut out of black paper. I used some grungy ribbon with butterflies by Kaiserkraft on the large pages.I uses Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in the colours Steel Shimmer, Rusty Lantern Lime and Shabby Turbine Teal. Don't you just love the colours??
In the background I stamped with a stamp from the Tim Holtz industrial blueprint set, the one with the cogs.
On the right side I stamped and embossend this quote, which I really love. I also love the font they used for this quote.
So I hope you like this very grungy page, I sure loved creating it. Hugs Frea

My February calendar spread.

Yess, I did it, on the first of the month I have my February calendar spread ready. I started with a Pan Pastel background. I stamped the Paper Artsy stamp around the edge of my pages with Versamark and then the Pan Pastel does its magic.

Jawel, het is me gelukt!
I diecut the hearts from different papers, some pearlescent. Around the regular papers I added some Stickles. The black letters were diecut with a Sizzlit alphabet called Big Top. I stamped all sort of little hearts on and embossed with Sea Foam embossing powder.
This Stampotique cutie was coloured with Copics and the fussy cut. Her curls were too tiny to cut out, so I drew them on to the background as well as I could. She's standing on a piece of washi tape.
I used a stencil and an embossing dabber with pink and blue embossing powder on the background. Love the effect.
Well, hope you like my spread. Let's see if I can find some challenges! Have a great Sunday evening, hugs Frea
Groetjes Frea
