Weekend has come and gone. On the upside, I got some crafting done!!

    
And here it is, my spread.

I started out with Fresco Finish paints for the background and used mat medium to glue down some material in the corners. I emphasized the structure by rubbing Inca Gold  Hematite onto the fabric. Then I used Golden Molding Poaste through a stencil and after drying coloured it with Pan Pastel Turqoise. I also added shading with a grey Pan Pastel.

I stamped a little fairy and coloured her wings with Daler Rowney Pearlescent ink and the bubble on which she's sitting with Glimmer Mist Pearl.

In the same stamp set were these scrolls which I stamped with Indigo Blue Flitter glue and added gilding flakes. The 'Fairy dust' was stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder. And then I did some distresssing with Black Soot Distressing ink.

Drawing faces.....

A while ago I started doing faces; at first mixed media faces, then I tried something Santoro like face, and now I used a photograph to draw a face. I used soft pastel crayons for the face, for the background I used Pearlescent Pan pastel in blue and the shirt with Pearlescent Pan Pastel in Red. The flower I fussy cut out of the photograph but it was very hard compared to the soft drawing, so I decided to cover it with gesso to  tone it down and then used the same blue Pan Pastel of the background to make the colour match better.

After I coloured the background with my Pan Pastel I fixated and then stamped with a script stamp and Versamark and used the same colour Pan Pastel over it.

The only thing I am not really happy with, are the eyelashes; I did them with a fineliner, but I find it wasn't fine enough, so for me the lashes stand out too much. Of course there is nothing I can do about it; can't cover them up, so this is it. Next time I will do it differently.

Anyway, this is my first realistic face, so I'm quite happy with it. Hope you like it to. Hugs Frea

My February calendar spread.

Yess, I did it, on the first of the month I have my February calendar spread ready. I started with a Pan Pastel background. I stamped the Paper Artsy stamp around the edge of my pages with Versamark and then the Pan Pastel does its magic.

Jawel, het is me gelukt! Op de 1e van de maand heb ik mijn Februari kalender af. Ik ben begonnen door met een Paper Artsy stempel en Versamark rondom de pagina's te stempelen. Daarna deed de Pan Pastel zijn toverkunstje. Met Turqoise en Magenta is de achtergrond gekleurd.

I diecut the hearts from different papers, some pearlescent. Around the regular papers I added some Stickles. The black letters were diecut with a Sizzlit alphabet called Big Top. I stamped all sort of little hearts on and embossed with Sea Foam embossing powder.

This Stampotique cutie was coloured with Copics and the fussy cut. Her curls were too tiny to cut out, so I drew them on to the background as well as I could. She's standing on a piece of washi tape.
Dit Stmapotique schatje heb ik ingekleurd met Copics en vervolgens uitgeknipt. Haar krulletjes waren te fijn om uit te knippen dus die heb ik op de achtergrond nagetekend met een watervaste fineliner.

I used a stencil and an embossing dabber with pink and blue embossing powder on the background. Love the effect.
Met een stencil en een embossing dabber heb ik op de achtergrond deze patronen gemaakt met roze en blauw embossing poeder. Ik vind het zelf een heel leuk effect geven.

Sometimes I wish I could see beyond the horizon.....

The other day I went to this craft shop I had never been before and found this lovely stencil with faces on it by Andy Skinner. And as it happens, tomorrow I will be attending a workshop by Mr Skinner himself, how cool is that?!
Anyhow, I made this spread in my Donna Downey journal with the stencils and my brandnew Pan Pastels and Distress Paints. Love how it turned out. It has an autumn feel to it, I think due to the colours I used.

Now this page started out as a 'junk' page, in that I had made some acrylic wash by mixing acrylic paint with gel medium for another page, but of course I made way too much, and so I used the left over wash with a stencil on this empty page. That is what you see at the bottom, and after painting over it with Distress Paints I was sorry to see it covered up, and so I decided to take some sanding paper to it and I sanded the paints off again. Love it!

I painted the faces with black acrylic paint, and used the stencil on the inclusions too, so they would show also when the flap of the inclusion is lying on top of them.

Now when I finished my page it looked to me as if the face on the right page was looking down from the sky, and so these words popped into my mind. I don't think it's somebody's quote, I just made it up, so now it is my quote LOL!
